God is changeless!

The Changeless One

Through all the broken harmonies of life,
One clear not on the air rings old yet new,
Men change, and die, and toll of bells is rife,
But God alone remaineth, changeless, true.

The May days as they come, fresh beauties bring,
But each is born and blooms, alas! to die;
The only fadeless flowrets of the spring
Are those that deck the hills of God on high.

The ruddy glow of youth is sure to pale,
The hair, once raven, turn to silver gray;
And I, who nimbly speed o’er hill and dale,
Will by the fireside sit, to muse and pray.

He changeth not! What comfort in the thought:
Today, tomorrow, yesterday the same!
O priceless boon, bestowed but never bought
With rarest gems of earth, or toil or fame.

Then rest, my soul, and never more repine;
Let His unchanging love thy pillow be;
‘Twill hush to peace the storm, and silver line
Each cloud that spans earth’s restless, troubled sea.

*Psalm 102:25-27*

Of old hast Thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens
are the work of Thy hands. They shall perish, but Thou shalt endure:
yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt Thou
change them, and they shall be changed: But Thou art the same,
and Thy years shall have no end

*Hebrews 13:8*  .

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
