I went on a wander through the bible today. I just landed here and there touching on places I don’t usually go.
I found myself in the book of Amos. I guess I have always kind of thought of Amos as a bad part of the city, I didn’t want to go there.
Amos was kind of on a rant. He was sick of where Israel was headed. They were materialistic, economically successful (at least the upper class was) and had become a land of greedy individuals (at least according to happy old Amos).
So I read a little and WHAM! Israel sounded a lot like the good ole’ U. S. of A!
Amos 6:1 What sorrow awaits you who lounge in luxury in Jerusalem,
and you who feel secure in Samaria!
You are famous and popular in Israel,
and people go to you for help.
