It’s ALL about Jesus…

Nothing else. No one else.
Colossians 2:8 – Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

      1. Ain’t that the truth.
Just keep up the good work. And I’m glad that you’re able to be active again on wordpress. It’s a good thing to read your posts.

      1. Hi Maria,
        I receive your words.
But what I was referring to was false religion. Perhaps I should have specified that, please forgive me.
False religion withheld from me the true message of resting in Christ’s finished work. And it was this form of religion that I had to overcome to rest in Christ. I hate works religion; it is the enemy of the gospel.
(I’m not griping at you Maria), I’m just clarifying what I mean by “religion” as I intended it in my previous comment. πŸ˜ƒ

      2. Let me please clarify something I just said please…
I’m all for good works done through the power of the Holy Spirit. That wasn’t what I meant by being against works religion.
I was meaning…religion that denies the full finished work of Christ on the behalf of the believer.
Such as seeking ongoing forgiveness. Such as mixing law and grace. Such as giving the believer the impression that his performance is the basis of God’s acceptance of him…(stuff like that).

      3. Hi Maria, good mornin sister.
This is “the” topic that drove me to understand the finished work of Christ.
        Hear me out please…

I was a mental wreck of guilt, (even after I’d done all the religious requiem for getting saved).
I’d often, (multiple times a day) pull off the highway, go plant my face to the earth, and seek God’s forgiveness for one thing or another…there is no end to it. You never know just how forgiven a person is when pursuing “ongoing forgiveness.”
But when it really quickened in my spirit that I’m forgiven only by Christ’s blood, once for all…that changed everything!

I talked this over with my then pastor, and he wasn’t having it. He told me that we may be forgiven positionally, but we need ongoing relational forgiveness. (1 John 1.9) is the common reasoning for this argument.
But that just isn’t the case.
The whole 1st chapter of 1 John is evangelical. And that argument would contradict Colossians 2.13, Hebrews 10.12, and Ephesians 4.32, etc. for example.
God only forgives by blood, Hebrews 9.16,17.
Not by our ongoing requests for forgiveness, or attempts at improved behavior, (ongoing forgiveness is old covenant methodology).

It is indeed finished my friend. πŸ˜ƒ

I resigned my membership from that church because I was so moved by what God had given to me, and the church leadership didn’t accept what I was resting in. That place felt like a prison after that talk we had. I wasn’t going to be robbed of the peace that God had given to me, just to go along with denominational system.

Do I still talk to God about my sins? All the time, but I know that no more forgiveness is ever going to be issued to me for any reason, at any level.

Holler back at me if you want.

      4. You’re welcome sister.
Ever since I wrote that explanation to you about God’s forgiveness, I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to write that article. And the more I’ve thought about it, the more my blood boils against preachers who misrepresent the gospel. Keeping God’s people in the dark, keeping them seeking what God has already given to them.
I think about the years of misery I’d still be in, if I’d trusted what I’d been told because a preacher said it was so. I think about your struggle to grasp what should be front page news at every church. It makes me angry!
I prayed for you to see it Maria after our dialogue. And I thanked God for letting me share His good news to you.
        God bless you sister.
Ask God to reveal His finished work to you, how you are truly a forgiven person already…Only He can show you, and make it stick.

      5. Okay,
I just finished the article that resulted from our dialogue Maria.
It’s on my site, I just published it.
It has a lot of the content that we discussed, plus some extras that I hope will be helpful.
And thank you for your kindness again.
        God bless you sister.

      6. Lee, I will read this but must say that I understand the Gospel and am perplexed that you think I don’t because I confess any wrongdoing to the Lord. Let me go to your article and read.
Also I believe that the Word of God teaches the doctrines of sovereign grace. (You have an article decrying “Calvinism”.)
