I shudder to think where I would be without thee…

“I Could Not Do Without Thee”

I could not do without Thee
O Savior of the lost,
Whose precious blood redeemed me
At such tremendous cost.
Thy righteousness, thy pardon
Thy precious blood, must be
My only hope and comfort,
My glory and my plea.

I could not do without Thee,
I cannot stand alone,
I have no strength or goodness,
No wisdom of my own;
But Thou, beloved Savior,
Art all in all to me,
And weakness will be power
If leaning hard on Thee.

I could not do without Thee,
For, oh, the way is long,
And I am often weary,
And sigh replaces song:
How could I do without Thee?
I do not know the way;
Thou knowest, and Thou leadest,
And wilt not let me stray.

I could not do without Thee,
O Jesus, Savior dear;
E’en when my eyes are holden,
I know that Thou art near.
How dreary and how lonely
This changeful life would be,
Without the sweet communion,
The secret rest with Thee!

I could not do without Thee;
No other friend can read
The spirit’s strange deep longings,
Interpreting its need;
No human heart could enter
Each dim recess of mine,
And soothe, and hush, and calm it,
O blessèd Lord, but Thine.

I could not do without Thee,
For years are fleeting fast,
And soon in solemn oneness
The river must be passed;
But Thou wilt never leave me,
And though the waves roll high,
I know Thou wilt be near me,
And whisper, “It is I.”

**Psalm 30**~David praises God for his deliverance~AND SO SHOULD WE ~To me that should be the foremost thought on our hearts and minds everyday all of the time! Up to our last dying breath!  ❤

30 I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.

I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.

What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.

11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;

12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

~Amen and Amen~

“And yet it was no little price…”~Amen

My Savior, You Have Offered Rest

My Savior, You have offered rest,
Oh! give it, then, to me;
The rest of ceasing from myself,
To find my all in Thee.
This cruel self, oh! how it strives
And works within my breast,
To come between You and my soul,
And keep me back from rest.
How many subtle forms it takes
Of seeming verity,
As if it were not safe to rest
And venture all on Thee.
And yet it was no little price
That bought this rest for me;
T’was purchased at the mighty cost
Of Jesus’ agony.
I only enter on the rest,
Obtained by labors done;
I only claim the victory
By Him so dearly won.
And, Lord, I seek a holy rest,
A victory over sin;
I seek that You alone should reign
Over all, without, within.
In quietness, then, and confidence,
Savior– my strength shall be;
And, “Take me, for I cannot come,”
Is still my cry to Thee.
In Your strong hand I lay me down,
So shall the work be done;
For who can work so wondrously
As an Almighty One?
Work on then, Lord, until on my soul
Eternal light shall break;
And in Your likeness perfected,
I, “satisfied,” shall wake.

**It has become increasingly hard to REST in this world. To much busy-ness and not enough rest. No where do I see in God’s Word that says we should be so busy that we don’t rest. But we do. That being said it IS possible to be at REST even while we are busy. We rest in Jesus. We are allowed to be at REST knowing Who are Saviour is.  He gives us that peace that surpasses all understanding. When others see we are busy but in good spirits~ and wish to have the same~the glory goes to God when they ask where that spirit comes from! AFTER ALL IT IS BECAUSE OF GOD THROUGH JESUS THE CHRIST WE ARE ALLOWED THIS BENEFIT! Jesus paid a heavy price for our sins so we can rest! Glory to THE ONE and ONLY TRUE, JUST and MERCIFUL GOD!

I have been granted much more rest in following the Lord than I had ever found  “doing religion”. (Though now that I no longer practice a religion I am often accused of being “religious”. Always a great time to witness, with love of God’s truth,  when that accusation comes forth. )

REST, SWEET REST! Thank you, Heavenly Father, for knowing we would need Jesus!

Yes, He IS good like that, too ❤

No one can boast…

*Paul instructs the Galatian Christians that they are to enjoy their freedom in Jesus and not put themselves in bondage by trying to earn God’s favor through religious observances or good deeds. True goodness comes from not from self-effort, but from submitting oneself to the Holy Spirit so He can create the fruit of righteousness in a life.  When it comes to Christian living, no one can boast in their accomplishments, but only in the cross of Christ. Jesus The Christ made it ALL possible. ~Shared

**God lovingly freed the Israelites out of bondage when He freed them from the Pharoh in the land of Egypt. God, too, has lovingly freed us from the “land of religion”. Freeing us from works and selfish deeds that point to “self” making us think we are working towards “jewels in our crowns” (I have heard people make that statement).. The only “crown” we should want is the crown that points to Jesus…that is “JEWEL” enough!  ❤

Galatians 6

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

For every man shall bear his own burden.

Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.

12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

“My Father ’tis of Thee”

My Father ’tis of Thee
I have sweet liberty,
Of Thee I sing;
Since Christ our Savior, died,
Suffered the riven side,
Poured forth salvation’s tide,
His praises ring.

Eternal Saviour, Thou!
To Whom all knees shall bow,
Thy name I love.
It is our Father’s will,
Thy fame all worlds shall fill,
Thy name all hearts shall thrill–
All names above.

May thy words music be,
And may each heart set free
Salvation’s song:
Let each the message take,
Let all their silence break,
Let all who hear partake–
The sound prolong.

O Christ, lead us to Thee,
Thine shall the glory be,
To Thee we sing:
Long may Thy reign be bright
With justice, love and light,
O shield us by Thy might,
Great Christ, our King!

~Written By W. J. Johnson~

“Arise”

What though the blossom fall and die?
The flower is not the root;
The sun of love may ripen yet
The Master’s pleasant fruit.

What though by many a sinful fall
Thy garments are defiled?
A Saviour’s blood can cleanse them all:
Fear not! thou art His child.

Arise! and, leaning on His strength,
Thy weakness shall be strong;
And He will teach Thy heart at length
A new perpetual song.

Arise! to follow in His track
Each holy footprint clear,
And on an upward course look back
With every brightening year.

Arise! and on thy future way
His blessing with thee be!
His presence be thy staff and stay,
Till Thou His glory see.

“FEAR NOT! THOU ART HIS CHILD” ❤

“Speak not of other “christs” to me…”

“One Christ—One Calvary”

Only one Christ, my Savior dear,
Of whom God’s Holy Word speaks clear,
And that true record that He gave
Proclaims that none but Christ can save.
One Christ alone by Faith I see,
Speak not of other “christs” to me

Only One Calvary I descry
Beneath a distant Syrian sky,
Where, nailed upon a cross of wood,
He sealed my pardon with His blood.
One Calvary alone Faith sees,
Point not to other “Calvaries. ”

There God-forsaken for my sake,
While the sun hid and rocks did quake,
For me made sin—for me accursed,
While hosts of darkness did their worst.
He died and dying did prevail;
His “It is Finished” rent the veil.

One Calvary alone for me,
One Christ, God’s Christ, and none but He.
And He who died and rose again
Is coming back on earth to reign,
Then we behold Him face to face,
And praise Him for His saving grace.

*Matthew 24:5~For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

*2 Corinthians 11:3~But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent **beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

**BEGUILED~Deluded; imposed on; misled by craft; eluded by stratagem; passed pleasingly.

**SUBTILTY~Slyness in design; cunning; artifice

Self-will…

…takes us down the path of self destruction. I have walked that lonely, dark path. It is a sin. Let the God of creation through Jesus The Christ of Nazareth light your path to righteousness. Trust in and on Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Yes! He is good like that, too ❤

And I am His…and I am blessed beyond measure!

“Better And Best”

Better in bitterest agony to lie,
Before Thy throne;
Than through much increase to be lifted up on high,
And stand alone.

Better by one sweet soul, constant and true,
To be beloved;
Than all the kingdoms of delight to trample through–
Unloved, unloved.

Yet best–  the need that broke me at Thy feet,
In voiceless prayer;
And cast my chastened heart, complete,
Upon Thy care.

For all the world is nought, and less than nought,
Compared with this:
That my dear Lord, with His own life, my ransom bought,
And I am His!
